Senior Legal Counsel – Renewable Energy Projects

Our client is a leading renewable energy developer and investor with a diverse portfolio of projects. With an ambitious pipeline of developments and a commitment to accelerating Australia's energy transition, they are seeking a
Senior Legal Counsel
to join their high-performing team.

The Role

As Senior Legal Counsel, you will provide critical legal support across the business, with a focus on
M&A transactions, project development, and property matters
. Working closely with the executive team, project developers, and external advisors, you will play a key role in driving successful acquisitions, joint ventures, and land-related agreements that underpin the growth of the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage legal aspects of
    M&A transactions
    , including acquisitions, disposals, joint ventures, and corporate structuring.
  • Advise on
    property and land access arrangements
    , including leasing, easements, and landowner negotiations.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts relevant to renewable energy development.
  • Provide strategic legal advice on corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
  • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders, including development, finance, and operations teams, to support project delivery.
  • Engage and manage external legal advisors where required.

About You

  • Qualified lawyer with
    7+ years PQE
    (private practice and/or in-house).
  • Strong background in
    corporate/M&A law
    , ideally with exposure to infrastructure or energy projects.
  • Experience in
    property law
    and land access matters.
  • Commercially minded with the ability to balance legal risk and business objectives.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • A genuine interest in the
    renewable energy sector
    and contributing to the energy transition.
