Are you a go-getter who thrives on collaboration and building strong connections with communities and schools? The Department of Education is looking for passionate and proactive Public Schools Engagement Officers to join our team and provide practical, on the ground support to schools.

Multiple full time, 12-month temporary positions are available across:

  • Metropolitan Sydney
  • Regional NSW, including:
  • Northern Rivers
  • Central & Mid-North Coast
  • Hunter
  • Illawarra & South Coast

About the role

The Public Schools Engagement Officer will support schools within a specific region to develop and deliver tailored community engagement, communications and transition to primary and high school initiatives.

What we're looking for

  • Experience in communications, community engagement, stakeholder engagement, community liaison or project management. A sound knowledge of, and experience in digital communications, will be highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated experience managing competing priorities in a high-volume setting.
  • Excellent written communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to work with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • A keen learner with proactive and solutions-focused attitude.
  • Experience in a school or educational setting will be highly regarded.

Essential requirements of the role

  • Working with Children Check Clearance for paid employment
  • This role requires travel across various work sites, so a current and valid Driver's licence is essential.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department's Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
