ABOUT THE ROLE

Based out of Ridleyton, the main role of the Wine Tour Guide/Driver is to safely drive international and interstate guests from city hotels through scenic wine country, while providing meaningful, personal, informational connection with guests.

While itineraries and daily organisation will be taken care of for you at first, you will eventually be required to manage the itinerary, winery bookings, and facilitation of your scheduled days from start to finish. By building rapport with each winery, building your own itineraries will allow you to inject your own personality and flair into the role.

The position also requires you to carry out the daily inspection, cleaning, and fueling of the vehicles rostered.

The casual position ideally includes some weekend work on a rotating basis.

Ideally suited to someone with flexibility to work more/less as demand changes over summer/winter months. Anyone with a keen interest in learning about wine (not just drinking the stuff) is recommended to apply.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

An ideal candidate would possess the following:

  • An inherent passion for wine, that is far beyond just drinking the stuff
  • A good understanding of wine production methods and styles, including how Australian wine sits in a broader international context
  • History working in a winery/cellar door; or WSET2+ qualification

Necessary attributes:

  • Ability to create rapport with customers from all walks of life, and across the political spectrum
  • Confidence to lead a group and make quick decisions
  • Confident driving ability is a must
  • No criminal history or serious driving charges on record
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Varied life/travel experience is helpful

Any successful candidate will have to obtain SA Driver Accreditation which requires no drink driving charges under your name, a clean criminal record, and no serious health issues like diagnosed sleep apnoea, epilepsy, diabetes, leg or hand injuries, etc. If you have any health issues that could, in any possible way, hinder your ability to drive, you will have to jump through hoops to get accredited.

ABOUT US

Operating high-end wine tours to the Barossa, McLaren Vale, and Adelaide Hills, we are a business created and run by winelovers, for winelovers. Our guests are mostly well-travelled and love good food and wine experiences. We require our guides to have an inherent interest and above-average knowledge of all things wine to be able ot ctaer to our experienced customer base.

We run both private and shared-group tours with a maximum group size of just six. We don't do tacky tourist traps, we don't allow bucks or hens parties, we have a strict no dckhead policy onboard. We want to help wine tourists connect with real brands and level-up their wine knowledge wherever possible, usually by visiting boutique wine brands and small-batch winemakers.

We do have a long list of preferred winery partners but we are always discovering more. Our itineraries are always flexible to the seasons, our guests interests, and the availability of the wineries.
