Primary objective

Provide high-level advice to internal and external senior stakeholders on major government priorities, projects and reforms, undertake

quality analysis of a range of complex issues affecting the Territory including from economic, commercial, and regulatory reform

perspectives,

prepare complex reports and lead the implementation of policy.

Context statement

As Analyst within the Economic Policy team, you will be required to research, analyse and advise on economic, commercial and

regulatory reform matters. You will work closely across the team and government agencies to analyse and provide advice on major

government priorities, projects and reforms. Critical thinking, the ability to absorb information quickly and provide succinct and

accurate advice are key to success in this role.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Undertake research, analysis and evaluation of policies and issues affecting the Territory from economic, regulatory, commercial

perspectives.

2. Assist with developing policy, briefings and research papers.

3. Prepare a range of high-level documentation including Ministerial briefings, policy advice, reports and discussion papers.

4. Assist with preparations for meetings and participate as required.

5. Actively participate in divisional projects and work as an effective team member.

6. Develop and maintain effective collaborative relationships across DTF and other government agencies to achieve required

outcomes.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Demonstrated ability to apply research and analytical skills to provide sound advice on regulatory, economic, or commercial policies,

strategies, proposals, and issues.

2. Proven experience assisting with the practical development and implementation of strategies and policies.

1. Effective writing, communication and influencing skills.
2. Ability to work effectively as part of a high-performing team and manage own workload and competing deadlines.
3. Ability to develop and maintain good professional relationships and work collaboratively with stakeholders to achieve

organisational objectives.

1. Ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures.

Desirable

1. Tertiary qualifications in economics, commerce, finance, accounting, law or a related discipline.

2. An understanding of policy development and the processes of Government
