Posted: 03/09/2025
Closing Date: 01/10/2025
Job Type: Permanent - Full Time
Location: Collingwood or Mascot
Job Category: Banking and Financial Services
Through the merger of Bank Australia and Qudos Bank we're creating a better, stronger and more resilient bank for our customers and employees. As one company with two trusted brands, we're building on the strong foundations of our history and shared values as we bring together the best of both banks.
As Manager, Strategic Risk, you'll lead the assessment and management of strategic risks aligned to Bank Australia's business model, risk appetite and long-term strategy. You'll define and maintain the enterprise strategic risk profile, support governance through structured reporting, and collaborate across all three lines of defence to ensure risks - such as climate, reputation, growth and transformation - are well understood, effectively managed and transparently reported.
Why join us
- We have big plans to become Australia's leading purpose-driven bank.
- As a certified B Corp, we're part of a global business community who meet the highest social and environmental standards, balancing profit and purpose.
- Every role and person in our bank is essential to bringing our values, purpose and aspiration to life.
- We offer flexible working options, competitive salary and 13% super.
- Our staff have access to a range of meaningful benefits to support their physical and mental wellbeing including 24/7 free counselling, free flu vaccinations and discounted gym memberships.
- We also support staff with study assistance, paid parental leave (regardless of gender), volunteer, bereavement, gender affirmation and family violence leave; and the opportunity for bonus annual leave.
- We support our staff to grow their careers through learning and development and an organisational culture where we reward and recognise innovation and values, not long hours.
- We are committed to building an inclusive culture and a diverse workforce that reflects the Australian community.
- We care for a conservation reserve – where we work with key partner organisations to protect threatened species and involve staff in conservation.
What you will be doing
- Lead assessment and monitoring of strategic risks including climate, reputation, transformation, and growth
- Maintain an up-to-date strategic risk profile aligned to risk appetite and informed by internal and external developments
- Map consequential risks and ensure clear ownership, treatment plans, and alignment with broader risk indicators
- Collaborate across all three lines of defence to embed strategic risk into planning, transformation and performance measures
- Provide expert advice on emerging risks to support investment decisions and project delivery
- Design and maintain strategic risk reporting, including governance escalation, materiality assessments and Board-level insights
- Deliver high-quality risk analysis and narrative for senior leadership and regulators.
What you will bring
- Tertiary qualifications in business, finance, risk management or a related discipline
- Extensive experience in strategic or enterprise risk within regulated financial services, with strong knowledge of APRA standards
- Proven ability to operate across all three lines of defence and influence risk governance and oversight
- Strong analytical and reporting skills, with the ability to translate complex risk data into clear, actionable insights
- Experience uplifting GRC systems and embedding strategic risk into planning and decision-making
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with a proactive and collaborative approach
- Strategic thinker with sound judgement, high integrity, and a continuous improvement mindset
- Commitment to Bank Australia's purpose, aspiration, values and brand as well as the B Corp ethos.
