SEC Plating Pty Ltd, is an established Australian-owned company specialising in electroplating and industrial coatings since 1947. We cater to a diverse range of domestic and international customers in industries such as aerospace and defence, medical, electronics, and transport, among others. We hold ISO/IEC 17025 certification in our NATA accredited laboratory and hold an ISO9001:2015 certified Quality Management System.

We are currently seeking a full-time, Junior Chemistry Technician to join our busy team at our Belmore premises.

Your experience in designing and preparing specifications for our chemical process systems will be highly regarded, as well as your experience in analysing test data and carrying out technical functions in support of our industrial coating products.

Responsibilities for the position will include, but are not limited to:-

· Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of chemical substances, plating baths, and treated components to support quality control and research activities.

· Assist in the development, testing, and troubleshooting of a sensitive plating system for key components, including preparation of chemical solutions and maintenance of plating conditions.

· Calibrate, operate, and maintain laboratory and plating equipment, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with safety and quality standards.

· Collect, analyse, and document test results, maintain laboratory records, and prepare basic reports for internal review and decision-making.

· Collaborate with chemists, electroplaters, engineers, and scientists on research and development projects, providing technical support and performing lab-based experimental work.

· Support compliance with ISO 9001, AS 9100, and NATA standards by following quality procedures and participating in quality control and assurance activities.

· Handle and dispose of chemical waste safely and ensure laboratory operations comply with safety and environmental regulations.

· Contribute to the continuous improvement of laboratory procedures, production support processes, and system efficiency, including basic digitalisation of lab systems.

· Verify incoming materials and chemicals against specifications, prepare standard solutions, and liaise with suppliers when needed under supervision.

· Provide hands-on support during equipment trials, maintenance planning, scale-up activities, and process troubleshooting to ensure production goals are met.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:-

· Bachelor of Engineering degree (Chemical Engineering)

· Effective communication and negotiation skills.

· Strong organisational abilities and excellent time management skills.
