About the role
Orica's Emerging FutureShaper Internship Program gives students the opportunity to gain real-world experience within a global organisation leading digital and technology innovation in the mining and infrastructure industries.
We are seeking a
Software Development Intern
to join our team in Kurri Kurri over the summer. This role is designed for students currently studying Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related disciplines who are eager to apply their technical knowledge and problem-solving skills in a practical, fast-paced environment.
What you'll be doing
- Assisting in the design, development, and testing of software solutions that support Orica's global operations
- Gaining exposure to full-stack development, databases, cloud platforms, and DevOps practices
- Writing clean, maintainable code using languages such as
C#, Python, and JavaScript - Collaborating with senior developers and engineers to troubleshoot and improve applications
- Using version control tools such as
Git
to manage and track code contributions
What you'll bring
- Currently completing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or a related field
- Strong foundation in programming (e.g. C#, Python, JavaScript) and an interest in full-stack development
- Familiarity with databases, cloud technologies, and DevOps principles is an advantage
- Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail and eagerness to learn new technologies
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within a team
