The opportunity

Delaware North Australia is hiringommis Chefs to join our team at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). As a Pastry Commis Chef, you will be responsible for collaborating with senior chefs to create dishes that make a lasting impression.

As the largest sporting stadium in the Southern Hemisphere, with a capacity of over 100,000, the MCG is renowned for hosting Australian Football League (AFL) games, international cricket matches, world-class concerts, and exclusive events.

What you will do?

  • Prepare a range of dishes in a high-volume production setting
  • Follow recipes for menu preparation, ensuring adherence to cooking guidelines and standards as well as cook and prepare high quality pastry menu items including buffet, events, plated desserts & retail
  • Execute food preparation tasks, showcasing expertise in food presentation
  • Maintain consistent cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen area
  • Ensure HACCP and WHS compliance, displaying a strong commitment to meeting Food Safety standards including conducting temperature and quality checks and effectively managing cross-contamination

More about you

  • Previous experience as a Pastry Chef is required and proven experience in an a' la carte restaurant or function service is preferred
  • Solid background in kitchen operations
  • Minimum Level 3 Certificate in Commercial Cookery and a Food Safety certificate, or willing to obtain at onboarding
  • Demonstrated track record meeting financial targets for food and labor costs
