Quality Designer II

Frostbite is EA's proprietary game engine that comes equipped with tonnes of technologies designed to build incredible games. Our in-house engine offers the capacity to evolve for each game while working hand-in-hand to prioritise what to build. Our goal is to empower creators all over the world to bring their best ideas to life by creating an engine that amplifies innovation across every discipline

We are looking for an experienced Quality Designer II to join the Frostbite team.

This is a hybrid role based in Melbourne, Australia, and you will report to the Quality Verification Development Manager.

As a Quality Designer II, you will help to define and lead one or more aspects of the Quality Verification strategy for Frostbite. This is an opportunity to use your quality assurance expertise to deliver and maintain high-quality experiences and tools for our partners and creators across EA.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with partners to define quality goals, recommend improvements, and create reliable, accessible technology solutions.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to Quality Verification team members, promoting best practices within the Frostbite environment.
  • Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation of quality standards, processes, and best practices.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing within the team and across departments.
  • Identify and escalate risks related to quality, ensuring rapid response to new issues and minimising impact on the user experience.
  • Help test new features and bug fixes across platforms
  • Integrate data analysis into the Quality Verification strategy to guide informed decision-making.
  • Identify and advocate for automation and tooling opportunities to enhance testing processes within the Frostbite environment.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of game industry or Quality Assurance experience.
  • Hands-on experience testing or working with modern game engines (such as Unity, Unreal, Frostbite, or similar).
  • Experience working with distributed teams.
  • Advanced familiarity with source control and development tools (e.g., Perforce, Visual Studio).
  • A track record improving QA processes and coaching junior team members.
  • Exposure to scripting or programming is advantageous, but not required

What's in it for you?

We want EA to be the ultimate destination to make great content and experiences. Everything we're doing here is about creating a culture, environment, and company where you can do the best work of your career – so there's that. There's also:

  • An employee assistance program, including coaching and therapy sessions to support your wellbeing
  • An inclusive parental leave policy that supports all parents and carers
  • 17.5% annual leave loading – yes, we'll pay you extra to take a break
  • Bonus end of year leave days – time off between Christmas and New Years, no annual leave necessary
  • Volunteer leave and charitable donation matching
  • A flexible work reimbursement program - $$ to go towards your working from home and/or commuting expenses

We also offer access to our employee stock purchase program.

We're proud to have an extensive portfolio of games and experiences, locations around the world, and opportunities across EA. We value adaptability, resilience, creativity, and curiosity. From leadership that brings out your potential, to creating space for learning and experimenting, we empower you to do great work and pursue opportunities for growth.

We adopt a holistic approach to our benefits programs, emphasizing physical, emotional, financial, career, and community wellness to support a balanced life. Our packages are tailored to meet local needs and may include healthcare coverage, mental well-being support, retirement savings, paid time off, family leaves, complimentary games, and more. We nurture environments where our teams can always bring their best to what they do.
