Canterbury Institute of Management (CIM) is an accredited Institute of Higher Education with campuses in Sydney, Melbourne, and Darwin.

CIM is currently looking for Program Director - Online to join our team on a full-time basis.

Brief Description of Role

The Program Director - Online will provide strategic direction and oversight for online learning, including online programs and online courses taught in undergraduate and graduate programs. The Program Director will be an integral member of the Executive Management Team, and work with the Dean to lead and develop CIM's online delivery of programs and courses. As an online pedagogy expert, the Director will work with academic staff to develop online teaching methodology leading to excellence in online teaching and student learning.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategy for online programs, aligned with CIM's overall mission and goals.
  • Lead the creation, expansion, and enhancement of online delivery of undergraduate and graduate programs in collaboration with Course Lecturers.
  • Provide leadership in the adoption of emerging technologies and best practices in online course delivery.
  • Oversee the development of online courses, ensuring they meet academic standards and professional accreditation requirements.
  • Collaborate with academic staff to create engaging, high-quality, and accessible online content.
  • Implement and manage processes for continuous improvement of online courses based on student feedback, performance, learning outcomes, and instructional effectiveness.
  • Evaluate and select educational technologies that support online learning.
  • Ensure robust technical support and training for staff and students using online learning platforms.
  • Contribute to the recruitment and management of academic staff in online programs.
  • Contribute to academic induction and student orientation each term of study.
  • Deliver courses in the online undergraduate/graduate programs as required.
  • Provide leadership in the professional development of academic staff involved in online learning.
  • Organize workshops, training sessions, and resources to enhance online teaching skills and familiarity with educational technologies.
  • Develop strategies to improve student engagement, retention, and progression in online courses.
  • Implement support services tailored to online students.
  • Monitor student performance data to identify areas for intervention and support.
  • Ensure that online programs comply with Higher Education Standards Framework (TEQSA), as well as professional accreditation standards.
  • Prepare and submit reports required by professional accrediting bodies and regulatory agencies (TEQSA).
  • Stay informed about changes in policies, regulations, and professional accreditation standards affecting online education.
  • Collaborate with marketing and enrollment teams to develop strategies for promoting online programs and attracting diverse student cohorts.
  • Analyze enrolment trends and market demands to inform the development of new online programs.
  • Collect, analyze, and report data on online program performance, including enrolment, retention, and student satisfaction.
  • Use data-driven insights to guide decision-making and strategic planning for online learning initiatives.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to Teaching & Learning Committee, Course & Industry Advisory Committee as well as the Dean on the status and outcomes of online learning programs.
  • Comply with CIM policies;
  • Other duties as required by the Dean.

Essential Criteria

  • A doctoral level qualification in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Online Education, Accounting, Hospitality, Management, Project Management or Information Systems/Technology.
  • Minimum of 3 years of online teaching or administrative experience in higher education setting
  • Record of scholarly activity demonstrated through research, publication, professional association membership and professional development.
  • Experience in managing academic staff and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrable commitment to academic scholarship and professional development.
