Director Incident Management and Exercise Management

Join the Department of Customer Services, Open Data and Small and Family Business (CDSB) as a Director Incident Management and Exercising, where you will deliver excellence in customer service and work with talented people to make a difference and shape Queensland's future. This role provides an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader to join the Cyber Security Unit in activity supporting the government's digital future and contributing to the good governance and sound management of cybersecurity resilience and defence.
As the Director Incident Management and Exercising you will
- Co-ordinate the management of cyber incidents and events impacting or having the potential to impact Queensland Government entities. This includes the full incident management lifecycle: preparation, containment eradication and recovery, post incident activity and continuous improvement activities.
- Develop and deliver a comprehensive cyber exercise program that increases resilience of the Queensland Government.
- Develop and maintain Queensland Government Incident Management processes.
- Oversee and support unit-wide processes for internal and external communication, events and activities as required.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with a range of stakeholders, including inter-jurisdictional agencies, law enforcement, market bodies, and Queensland Government agencies.
- Provide advice on submissions, briefs, ministerial and departmental correspondence, answers to parliamentary Questions on Notice and advice for the robust decision-making.
- Represent CDSB at a variety of inter-departmental, inter-agency, and interjurisdictional meetings, contributing to effective consultation and collaboration, that impact the implementation of initiatives of the department.
- Promote and support a workplace culture of equity, diversity, respect and inclusion, and proactively manage the work performance and personal conduct of your staff.
The Position Requires An Applicant Who Has
- Ability to manage, coordinate, and support the work of complex committees and working groups at the state and national level.
- Proven ability to support leadership and functional teams with strategic planning activities, the development and execution of workplans and production of high-level reports and documents.
- Proven strategic leadership of teams in an engagement focused environment with demonstrated high-level ability to analyse key issues and emerging trends (cyber policy and operations) and understand the implications for initiatives, related government work, and the wider Queensland Government and community.
- Demonstrated ability to manage large scale cyber incidents and deliver an effective exercise program.
- Ability to establish and maintain constructive relationships with key stakeholders and the wider sectors to promote collaboration.
- Ability to take accountability for the execution and quality of results through professionalism, persistence, and transparency.
- Ability to inspire others by driving clarity, engagement, and a sense of purpose.
- In addition, this role requires the leadership capabilities of a Program Leader as outlined in the Leadership competencies for Queensland booklet.
Role Requirements
- This is a position of trust, and the successful candidate will be required to obtain, or already hold, a security clearance (Negative Vetting Level Two). Further information regarding eligibility and suitability can be found on the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency website.
- The department will make any necessary screening arrangements for preferred candidates if required.
- In this role you are required to travel interstate regularly and may be required to work outside of business hours to assist Queensland Government entities or coordinate whole of Queensland Government responses to cyber security incidents.
