Business Analyst – Card Payments

About the Role:

We are looking for a highly skilled
Business Analyst (BA)
with strong experience in
card payments
, particularly with
AS2805 messaging
,
Mastercard integration
,
API-based payment systems
, and
card scheme compliance
. You will play a critical role in shaping and delivering card payment capabilities by collaborating with stakeholders across engineering, compliance, and product teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gather and document
    business and technical requirements
    for card issuing and acquiring systems.
  • Design and analyze
    AS2805 message flows
    including authorizations, reversals, settlements, and chargebacks.
  • Lead API-based integration projects with
    Mastercard
    and internal systems (e.g. transaction switching, card issuing platforms).
  • Work with Mastercard for network integration,
    MIP/API onboarding
    ,
    scheme certification
    , and mandate implementations.
  • Translate complex payment workflows into
    API specifications
    , including RESTful API payloads, endpoints, and usage patterns.
  • Ensure full
    compliance with Mastercard scheme rules
    , PCI-DSS, and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct detailed
    gap analysis
    between business needs and existing systems.
  • Assist product owners with feature definition, prioritization, and delivery planning for payment features.
  • Partner with QA and developers to ensure comprehensive test coverage and traceability for API and messaging interfaces.
  • Stay current with Mastercard bulletins, mandates, and industry trends to anticipate upcoming changes and assess impacts.
  • Document detailed
    functional specs, API interface contracts
    , and data flow diagrams.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 5+ years as a
    Business Analyst
    in
    card payments
    or
    financial services
    .
  • Deep knowledge of
    AS2805 messaging
    and
    transaction processing
    (POS, ATM, ecommerce).
  • Hands-on experience integrating with
    Mastercard services
    (e.g., MIP, MDES, 3DS, tokenization).
  • Strong understanding of
    API-based system integration
    , including
    RESTful API design
    , OpenAPI/Swagger specs, and JSON schemas.
  • Experience writing API documentation and collaborating with engineering on API-first designs.
  • Familiarity with
    authorization, clearing, and settlement
    processes.
  • Understanding of
    card scheme compliance
    and regulatory frameworks (e.g., PCI-DSS, Mastercard mandates).
  • Proven ability to work in
    Agile/Scrum
    teams and participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, and user story writing.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Finance, or related field.
  • Exposure to
    ISO 8583
    ,
    EMV
    , or
    tokenization platforms
    .
  • Experience with digital wallets, payment switches, or fraud management systems.
  • Certification such as
    CBAP
    ,
    CSPO
    , or
    SAFE Agilist
    is a plus.
