Advanced Carer Peer Worker, Queensland Health

The Advanced Carer Peer Worker will deliver a competent carer support service, as a member of the muti-disciplinary team to optimise carer participation. This may include:
- Ensuring consumer, carer and family perspectives are included in all aspects of multidisciplinary care, health service planning, delivery and evaluation.
- Assisting staff within CYMHS in their aim to provide a child and family-centred service.
- Communicate the broad views of consumers, carers and families across the CYMHS Service and other relevant services.
About the Role
- Serve as a positive role model to consumers, carers and staff and as a source of information on their personal experience of managing their mental health.
- Display a strong sense of personal efficacy and motivation to make a difference in the lives of others through the provision of contemporary child and youth mental health services.
- Identify areas for improvement to service, policy and procedures and be involved in the development of organisational processes ensuring mental health consumer and carer requirements are addressed and prioritised through developing and implementing 'consumer friendly' strategies to engage consumers and carers and obtain and represent the consumer and carer perspective.
- Participate in the recruitment and selection of the peer workforce and mental health professionals as required.
- Participate in professional supervision and performance coaching and development processes.
- Utilise experience, skills and knowledge in mental health consumer, carer and family education: support education and training and provide a responsive framework of education and consumer and carer participatory initiatives which meet the needs of consumers, carers and families.
