PCS services Manager

The Opportunity
As the Services Project Manager for Power Conversion Systems, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and Grid Automation (GA) and other associated system engineering activities within the Grid Automation business. You will be responsible for delivering services across the PCS portfolio with a specific focus on the Akaysha Waratah and Ulinda projects. The primary responsibility will be the Project Management of Service Contracts in BESS applications.

How You'll Make An Impact

• You will lead the project team allocated to the service, defining main guidelines, allocating project tasks, and motivating and monitoring internal and external resources to accomplish all tasks and milestones, provide performance feedback regarding allocated resources working on projects. You will define, jointly with the Project Controls department, all project plan documents, including scope and financial plans, schedule and risk management plans.
• You will ensure that the project follows execution best practices and HITACHI ENERGY policies, effectively monitor and control project progress and efficient resource utilization, project financials, overseeing project invoicing status, cost, expenses and cash flow, identify, qualify, quantifies and manage project risks, and ensures that all opportunities are identified and pursued, capture, analyses and share lessons learned throughout the project, ensure that the project is formally closed out, as contractually agreed, drive the formal acceptance of the project, contract close-out and its acknowledgement by the customer.
• You will ensure that the project consistently applies contract and claims management, in accordance with HITACHI ENERGY policies and contractual agreements, coordinate with Supply Chain Management, and successfully procures required services, materials and equipment for the project from external and internal suppliers, support Supply Chain Management in supplier negotiations, claims and project changes. You will act as key contact for the customer and an escalation point for project issues, build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and effectively communicate with all stakeholders.
• You will coordinate with the HE GES HSE personnel to drive a Safety first culture always when performing the installation, commissioning or services of the BESS projects at customer sites, ensure safe working procedures and practices are followed at all times including the wearing and maintenance of assigned Personal Protective Equipment; attendance at required health, safety and environment training; report injury, incidents, hazards and near miss events, model safe work behavior in all aspects of work and actively identify hazards and risk controls. You will provide feedback and work closely with the Quality and Engineering teams on issues discovered in the field, support technical root cause analysis into incidents and failures and implement corrective actions identified to support continuous improvement activities including product improvements.
• You will complete and maintain the BESS services standard documentation such as scope of work, schedule, quality, EHS, etc., maintain customer relationships & foster them, work with the customer to shape and deliver solutions and seek customer feedback to drive and deliver improvements, attend project meetings and presents specific aspects of engineering assignments as needed. You will collaborate with the Supply Chain function as needed to ensure that technical requirements for services are communicated and agreed on with potential suppliers, provide technical evaluation of supplier proposals and accepts as fit for purpose supplied equipment or services.
• You will provide leadership to support execution, resources and team members, collaborate and networks within Hitachi Energy and externally sharing knowledge from the field to the engineering teams, reviews, develops and documents quality standards, processes, tools and techniques, ensure that site activities comply with required safety regulations and contractual requirements, contribute towards continuous improvements of processes and tools for efficiency improvements.
• You will be responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background

• You hold a degree qualification in Engineering (Electrical / Controls), or equivalent or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Control Systems engineering. High level of technical aptitude in power systems, power generation, electrical engineering.
• At least 3 to 5 years of experience in site execution and delivery of large power system-based services including power automation, generation or control, Battery Energy Storage or Inverter based technology services.
• Exposure to heavy engineering segments, Mining, oil and gas or heavy industry.
• Advanced computer skills including engineering software applications. Proactive and highly organized including timeliness and ability to meet deadlines and changing priorities.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team. Highly flexible and demonstrable problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and high attention to detail.
