Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA) is the nation's leading voice on exercise and sports science. We govern and represent approximately 10,000 degree-qualified accredited exercise professionals who support Australians to reach their health and performance goals.

About your role:

The purpose of this role is to support the activities associated with the operational plans and projects contained in the Policy and Advocacy unit's strategic plans and ESSA's goals. The position supports the General Manager of Policy and Advocacy to carry administrative functions of the Policy and Advocacy Unit.

Policy, Advocacy and Research Functions

  • Assist the PAU to deliver the organisation's strategic and operational plans.
  • Be directed by the Policy and Advocacy Manager to undertake administrative tasks of Policy, Advocacy, and Research.
  • Liaise with all other units of ESSA as required to achieve PAU and organisational goals.
  • Liaise with ESSA committees, working groups, project teams, authors, subject matter experts.
  • Prepare, maintain, record keep and distribute agendas, minutes, notices and other communications.

Administration

  • Deliver administrative tasks including organising activities related to meetings, agendas, briefs, advocacy forums, minutes, filing, report collation, information distribution, communicating with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Create and maintain relevant political contact lists.
  • Create and support internal and external communications.
  • Manage records and files as required.
  • Assist the PAU in projects as directed by the Policy and Advocacy Manager.
  • Manage the Policy and Research email inboxes.
  • Maintain Administrative Monday board tasks and records.
  • Track meeting requests, meetings held, notes and filing on Monday Boards.

  • Demonstrated high level experience with , Microsoft Office, including SharePoint, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Well-developed written and communication/interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage confidential and commercially sensitive and personal information in both internal and external contexts.
  • Understanding or willingness to learn ESSA's industry, professional standards, regulations and customer support.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
