Workshop Mechanic Team Leader to support its operational needs in the Waste
& Fleet Services team.

About this Opportunity
As
the Workshop Mechanic Team Leader, you will:
- Oversee
workshop operations, ensuring all servicing, maintenance, and repairs are
delivered efficiently, safely, and to a high standard. - Coordinate
preventative maintenance programs and keep detailed records using the City's
systems. - Supervise
and support staff and apprentices, providing on-the-job training and guidance. - Carry
out hands-on mechanical work on light vehicles, trucks, small plant, and
specialised equipment. - Ensure
compliance with WHS requirements, manufacturer guidelines, and
roadworthiness standards. - Manage
workshop tools, parts, and consumables.

About You
You
will bring:
- A Mechanical Trade Certificate or
equivalent - A 'HR' class driver's license
- Basic First Aid Training
(Desirable) - Excellent communication, time
management, and problem-solving skills. - Commitment to workplace safety and
a strong understanding of compliance standards in fleet operations. - Proven experience in managing a
team and overseeing workshop operations. - Strong knowledge of fleet
maintenance, diagnostics, and repair processes.
Selection Criteria
- Relevant mechanical experience.
- Maintenance and repairs of
vehicles, plant, and equipment. - Maintain accurate written and
computer records for services and/or repairs of the City's assets. - Responsible for maintaining a neat
and tidy workplace which is safe for staff and those who enter the workshop
area. - Responsible for ensuring work
environment and work practices are safe for staff and report any accidents or
incidents on appropriate forms. - Prior to commencing tasks, assess foreseeable
hazards, report and ensure corrective action to eliminate or reduce risk of
injury or damage to people, plant, and equipment. - Extensive light vehicle and truck
servicing skills - Sound knowledge of safe operation
procedures and user maintenance of tools and equipment. - Sound knowledge of vehicle
transmission, suspension, etc. - Sound knowledge of small plant such
as mowers, whipper snippers, chainsaws, etc. - Auto-electrical, hydraulic and tyre
fitting skills desired but not essential. - Works cooperatively and effectively
with others to achieve common goals. - Participates in building a team
though coaching, guidance, and support. - Well-developed verbal and written
communication skills including ability to provide outstanding customer service. - Demonstrated knowledge of
Occupational Health and Safety issues both in terms of personal responsibility,
team and public.

Hours of Work
This is a permanent full-time
position working Monday to Friday, 76 hours per fortnight. Flexible work
arrangements are available, with the option of a 9-day fortnight.
About the Benefits
The
salary range for this position is $92,565 - $95,369 per annum (depending on
qualifications and experience) plus superannuation. Other inclusions are
pre-start allowance, operational allowance, annual increments, EBA salary
increases, a generous superannuation co-contribution scheme, 22 days annual
leave with 17.5% loading, etc
