The Role
This role is responsible for ensuring the smooth execution of our workshop servicing and maintenance program. We seek a foreman, supervisor or leading hand with strong people management, communication and organizational skills, who can take responsibility and accountability for rosters, schedules, work orders and jobs across the workshops.
The ideal candidate will have experience managing a vehicle workshop supporting prime movers, rigid and trailing equipment, with a passion for safety and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordination of maintenance, servicing and repairs of the fleet and trailing equipment
- Overseeing workshop staff daily to ensure work meets company standards
- Training and upskilling workshop staff
- Facilitation of work plans and job orders with mechanics, delegation of tasks
- Assisting and diagnosing faults with workshop staff
- Ensuring prompt repairs by responding to emergency breakdowns
- Liaising with internal and external stakeholders for equipment service
- Ensuring maintenance jobs align with industry guidelines
- Managing workforce according to work schedule and weekend/weekday roster
- Viewing vehicle defects sheet, determining urgency and allocating work accordingly
Requirements
To be successful in this role, applicants must possess:
- Proven supervisory and leadership experience
- Trade qualification certificate in diesel mechanics
- Previous experience in a similar role
- Proficiency in general mechanics and vehicle maintenance including trailing equipment
- Excellent time management, organizational and communication skills
- Basic computer literacy, MS Excel, MS Word, Outlook
- Ability to handle pressure and meet strict deadlines
- Possess a flexible and adaptable attitude
- Strong commitment to all safety policies and procedures
- MC driver's license preferred
