Eastern Health
Eastern Health is one of Melbourne's largest public health services. We provide a range of emergency, surgical, medical and general healthcare services and have a proud history of serving a diverse community.
Our Employee Value Proposition is "Being a part of Eastern Health means belonging to a welcoming team of healthcare experts".
This statement aligns with our promise to our communities, patients, consumers and staff that we will be HEALTHIER TOGETHER. Bolder than a vision for the future, our promise calls us to action. We know that working together is the only way we can achieve what is necessary for a healthier future.
About the role
Are you passionate about assisting family and carers to practice self-care whilst being there for their loved one in recovery?
An opportunity now exists for a Senior Carer Peer Worker to join the Brief Intervention Team, which incorporates a suicide prevention stream (Hospital Outreach Post-suicide attempt Engagement - HOPE). The role will facilitate improvement of the mental health and wellbeing service responsiveness for loved ones, carers/chosen families of service users as the person moves towards their hoped-for outcome in recovery. This will be achieved through working collaboratively with the families/carers (as your focus) and ongoing collaboration with clinical and non-clinical team members as we support the service user. You will have the ability to reflect on your own carer lived experience/expertise and be able to use your experience to support others. Ideally this will occur using the Intentional Peer Support framework. In addition, the Senior Consumer Peer Worker will provide leadership support to other lived experience Carer peer workers.
