Aspirante is partnering with a local QLD government department to assist in their search for a Principal Data and Business Analyst to lead the development and implementation of data-driven strategies that support large-scale infrastructure and asset management initiatives. This is a senior role with the opportunity to shape data, policy, and insights frameworks that will directly inform decision-making at an enterprise level.

  • 12 month contract with likely extension
  • Paying up to $113 per hour
  • 3 days per week in Brisbane office

What you'll be doing In this role, you'll:

  • Conduct advanced data analysis and develop insights to drive business improvement initiatives.
  • Design and implement data integration and categorisation processes, particularly around transactional and ERP data.
  • Apply geolocation and predictive analytics to inform asset maintenance, refurbishment, and new construction requirements.
  • Create compelling dashboards and reports using tools such as Power BI, SQL, and Python.
  • Engage with stakeholders to gather requirements, propose solutions, and deliver tailored business process improvements.
  • Provide strategic advice on emerging technologies, business intelligence, and enterprise systems.
  • Develop and implement data governance policies, identifying risks and ensuring compliance with legislation and standards.
  • Lead cross-agency workshops to improve data literacy, collaboration, and whole-of-organisation reporting.
  • Present findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders and guide team members in a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

About you You'll bring:

  • Proven ability to use contemporary data science tools (e.g., Power BI, SQL, Python).
  • Strong knowledge of data governance, information management, and privacy standards.
  • Experience using project management methodologies to deliver initiatives on time.
  • The ability to analyse complex business challenges and propose practical, data-driven solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, with confidence presenting insights to senior stakeholders.
  • A track record of providing high-level strategic and professional advice.
  • Resilience and adaptability in changing environments.
