Your next career opportunity
As the Senior Advisor: Gender-Based Violence, you'll play a crucial role in the University of Melbourne's Safer Community Program. You'll provide trauma-informed support to students and staff, lead interventions, and shape institutional responses to gender-based violence. This role offers you the opportunity to make a significant impact on campus safety and wellbeing.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Provide Trauma-Informed Support: Triage and assess disclosures of gender-based violence, offering expert interventions to strengthen the wellbeing and safety of affected individuals
- Advise and Educate: Offer expert consultation to senior colleagues on managing disclosures and reports and deliver capacity-building workshops across the University
- Manage Critical Incidents: Escalate time-critical matters and those presenting safety or reputational risks, ensuring swift and appropriate responses
- Drive Best Practice: Contribute to team capability development and ensure alignment with the National Higher Education Code to Prevent and Respond to Gender-based Violence
You may be a great fit if:
You are a compassionate professional with expertise in trauma-informed approaches to gender-based violence, capable of providing expert support and advice within a complex university environment.
You may also:
- Hold a tertiary degree in Social Work or equivalent combination of relevant experience and education
- Have demonstrated experience in trauma-informed approaches to gender-based violence, ideally in educational or employment contexts
- Possess knowledge of the National Higher Education Code to Prevent and Respond to Gender-Based Violence
- Demonstrate expertise in risk identification and escalation, utilising cross-sector frameworks like MARAM
- Excel in building trusting relationships with diverse stakeholders and maintaining confidentiality
