About the team

The Clinical Education Program supports the hospital to achieve its strategic directions by the provision of frameworks for the professional development of health professionals. The Clinical Education Program promotes and supports contemporary professional practice within a collaborative multidisciplinary framework, engaging a variety of self-directed and multi-media activities, which incorporate adult learning principles to meet organisational needs for a workforce of safe, reflective, competent health professionals. The program aims to work in collaboration with managers, team leaders and other key stakeholders to increase reflective practice, participation in education and learning and translation of research into action. As a team of professionals, the Clinical Education Team are early adopters, innovators and change leaders. The team engages with precinct, network, and rural and regional partners and Education Providers to lead professional practice and build workforce capability and capacity across the sector.

About the role

The Lead Educator - Maternity Services is a senior clinical and professional leadership role that collaborates with all other Lead Educators and key stakeholders to develop, deliver and evaluate a strategy of learning for Maternity Services and across key streams of work. These key streams of work include pre-registration student programs, graduate programs, postgraduate programs, professional development and workforce capability development programs (including simulation and preceptorship) and any other emerging workforce support requirements. A regular day will see you:

  • Developing, delivering and evaluating education and learning initiatives for maternity services.
  • Leading a team of education personnel
  • Collaborating with other education leads to deliver on key programs of work (such as preceptorship frameworks, graduate programs, pre-registration programs, professional development and simulation.

About you

We are looking for a creative, innovative, evidence-based change education leader who brings a 'can do' approach to building capability in maternity services. Ideally you will hold or be working towards a Masters/PhD in education and learning, simulation, leadership or other relevant specialist practice.

You'll bring with you:

  • Registered Midwife with recent and extensive midwifery experience (preferably in a tertiary centre) across the midwifery continuum (Antenatal, Birth Centre, Postnatal).
  • Current perineal repair accredited, and competency/recency of practice maintained
  • Record of developing, delivering and evaluating learners and evidence-based learning initiatives
  • Demonstrated competency and recency of practice with advanced practice midwifery skills (e.g. Insertion of Cooks catheter, Prostin administration, amniotomy).
