What you'll be doing

The Registered Nurse will provide a comprehensive Child and Family Health Nursing service, with home visits, clinic visits and group work to Aboriginal families with children aged 0-5 years, within the context of current policies and "best practice".

The Registered Nurse is responsible for the provision of person-centred, evidence-based nursing care that promotes positive health outcomes, using a culturally sensitive, trauma informed approach.

The Nurse will assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care in collaboration with individuals and the broader multidisciplinary team. This will involve undertaking physical, emotional, and psychological assessments to identify family strengths and vulnerabilities, to enable early identification and interventions.

There may be a requirement for the Registered Nurse to work in universal and/or targeted Child and Family Health Nursing services.

Selection Criteria:

• Current Registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and current NSW Driver's Licence.
• Recognised postgraduate qualification in Child and Family Health Nursing with experience in the field of Child and Family Health Nursing and/or experience working with Aboriginal families.
• Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to identify key messages, issues and concerns when communicating with others.
• Demonstrated ability to work in partnership with families within a primary healthcare setting.
• Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and apply professional and ethical boundaries when dealing with complex situations.
• Demonstrated understanding of breastfeeding and lactation.
• Basic computer skills and proven ability to use health information systems.
• Detailed knowledge and understanding of risk management, safety and quality principles and the role of the Registered Nurse in applying these principles.
