Position: Childcare Navigator
Purpose / Objective
To support the PRF Childcare Coordinator role by working with relevant clients
Commitment Period: Minimum 6 months
Days and hours required per week: Variable depending on client need. Likely maximum 6 hours a week.
Location: Primarily off site and occasionally at Newtown
Duties & Responsibilities
- Establish connection with relevant clients to support their journey into childcare. This may include attending initial onsite or online meetings with clients alongside the Childcare Coordinator, to establish needs, and then to communicate directly with client
- Accompany clients to visits / tours of prospective Childcare Centres, to ensure they have any questions and concerns addressed, and understand the system
- Help clients to navigate the Centrelink system to acquire a Centrelink Reference number. This may involve going to Centrelink with client
- Help clients to complete relevant childcare paperwork - enrollment forms, allergy/medication forms, immunisation certificates etc.
Selection Criteria
- Exceptional communication skills and empathy with our clients
- Confidence to troubleshoot bureaucratic barriers and advocate on clients' behalf
- Ability to work autonomously
- Experience in working with people from various backgrounds and cultures
- Intermediate computer skills (confidence in using the internet, navigate Centrelink and mygov apps, ASC's database and Google suite and emails)
- Ability to work collaboratively with other staff and volunteers
- Flexibility and willingness to take on extra tasks as appropriate
- Ability to adhere to policies concerning code of conduct, boundaries and confidentiality
- This role is subject to a successful interview
- Own car to get to the Western suburbs of Sydney (all petrol and toll expenses reimbursed)
- Flexible availability.

- Support a child-safe organisation by undertaking screening for suitability to work with children and vulnerable people and to comply with relevant state/territory legislative requirements
