Pre-requisites:
As a Cook at Brother of Mine, you should exude enthusiasm for food preparation and a knack for creating delicious dishes. You should have previous experience in a similar role, with solid knowledge of various cooking techniques, understanding of food safety regulations, and aptitude for multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrable skills in preparing dishes according to recipes, following instructions from the Head Chef, and presenting meals in a visually appealing manner will be expected. Flexibility to work during the business's opening hours is essential.
Job Purpose:
At the heart of Brother of Mine, the Cook plays a vital role in executing our culinary vision. You will be responsible for preparing mouth-watering dishes that meet our high-quality standards, ensuring a consistent taste that keeps our customers coming back for more. Collaborating closely with our leadership team, you will strive to uphold our restaurant's reputation for superb casual dining and true hospitality.
Key Result Areas:
- Operations: Strictly follow recipes and presentation specifications, with a focus on efficiency and productivity. You are also responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organized kitchen environment that adheres to food safety standards.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the team, supporting the seamless execution of our menu. Help other kitchen staff as needed, promoting a culture of mutual respect, cooperation, and collective problem-solving.
- Recipe Execution: Masterfully prepare and cook menu items while adhering to Brother of Mine's established recipes and standards. This includes the ability to accommodate customer dietary needs and preferences while maintaining the integrity of the dishes.
- Inventory Management: Contribute to effective kitchen operations by keeping track of supplies, anticipating ingredient requirements in line with the menu, and reducing food wastage. Notify the appropriate party when supplies are low and need to be reordered.
- Creativity & Innovation: Be involved in weekly specials and new menu item development by bringing creative and innovative ideas to the table. Show your understanding of food trends, seasonal ingredients, and cost-effective culinary solutions.
- Training & Development: Show commitment to continuous learning and skill development. Actively participate in relevant culinary workshops, in-house training, and demonstrations to stay updated on the latest cooking techniques and trends.
Key Performance Indicators:
- Food Quality & Consistency: Prepare food according to our brand's recipes and standards. Consistency in taste and presentation is vital to customer satisfaction.
- Food Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to food safety regulations and hygiene standards. Regular internal checks will assess your compliance.
- Team Collaboration: Effective communication and cooperation with the kitchen team are crucial for a well-run operation. Your collaborative efforts will be assessed through team feedback.
- Efficiency & Productivity: Timely preparation of dishes and efficient use of resources are essential indicators of your performance. These will be evaluated through restaurant service times and food wastage rates.
- Inventory Management Efficiency: Your effectiveness in managing kitchen inventory, minimizing wastage, and contributing to cost control will be measured.
- Innovation Contribution: Your contribution to the creation of new, exciting menu items will be evaluated based on the successful implementation of your ideas and their acceptance by customers.
- Learning & Development: Your participation in skill-enhancing activities and your application of newly acquired knowledge or techniques in your cooking will be tracked and rewarded.
