Pilbara Bakehouse Cafe is seeking a qualified Chef and a Cook, who is passionate, enthusiastic, reliable and responsible with a strong, diverse and has a great skill set to prepare our new modern Australian menu items.

Position: Cook

Salary: AUD 76,515

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment.
  • Prepare full range of foods including breakfast, lunch and dinner.
  • Prepare, serve and store food items in regards to the requirements of our Kitchen.
  • Ensure all our policies and procedures, health and hygiene requirements are adhered to.
  • Establish and maintain effective employee working relationships.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Maintain excellent presentation standards.
  • Ordering and managing stocks.
  • Be innovative and creative.
  • The ability to work a 7-day rotating roster including weekends and evenings.
  • A willingness to work split shifts.
  • To behave in a manner appropriate to your standing within the business.
  • Liaise and work with the head Chef and is expected to assist him to ensure safe and efficient production of food, while maintaining all statutory requirements.

Desirable Qualifications and Skills:

  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent is a minimum requirement.
  • At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above.
  • 05 years of experience in the kitchen working as a cook.
  • Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling etc.)
  • Good knowledge of policies and procedures in workplace.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Very good communication skills.

  • Ensure the production of all food is prepared according to our standard.
  • Freeze and preserve foods according to our requirements at the kitchen.
  • Maintain excellent presentation standards.
  • Ensure all our policies and procedures, health and hygiene requirements are adhered to.
  • Planning menus, estimating food and labour costs, and ordering food supplies.
  • Establish and maintain effective employee working relationships
  • Supervising and assisting the kitchen staff on cooking procedures.
  • May select and train staff when necessary.
  • Monitor stocks and manage stock ordering.
  • The ability to work a 7-day rotating roster including weekends and evenings.
  • Check daily menus and initiate requisitions of all foodstuffs and dry goods based on functions, climate, menus and forecast
  • Be innovative and creative
  • Discussing food preparation issues with Head Chef, kitchen and waiting staff.
