Role scope
Reporting to the Project HSSE Manager, the purpose of this position is to support the HSSE function and the Project HSSE Manager to develop and implement the Project HSSE Management program. Ensuring effective implementation of the Project HSSE management system and report any required improvement to the HSSE Manager. The position will identify opportunities for HSSE improvement, identify and share best HSSE practices, monitor the HSSE performance on the project and implement improvement plans to ensure continual improvement and provide advice, guidance and coaching to project personnel to promote development. 

Details / responsibilities

  • Maintain and ensure compliance with the HSSE Management system on the Project in line with Legal, client and Kent requirements.
  • Provide support and guidance on effective HSSE risk management on the project.
  • Ensure the Project HSSE plan is fully communicated to all Construction staff and implemented.
  • Implement the Project leading and lagging indicators and monitor the performance regularly.
  • Ensure the emergency response preparedness plan is fully implemented and drills for identified potential emergency situations are performed in accordance with the agreed schedule.
  • Support the Project HSSE Manager where required to Conduct internal audits to assure compliance with the HSSE Management system and the international standards. (ISO 14001,
  • Ensure HSSE Communications and consultation is implemented in accordance with the project requirements.
  • Support the Project HSSE Manager to report and investigate all incidents in a timely manner on the incident reporting portal.
  • Ensure employees are trained in the respective HSSE training plan for the project.
  • Ensure work area environment is maintained safe through the pro-active enforcement of HSSE rules and regulations. Consult with Construction management to ensure good, safe and healthy work atmosphere.

About You:
Our ideal candidate will have a NEBOSH IGC or NQF/NVQ Level 3–5 certificate, along with a minimum of seven years' experience in a similar role. They will be a proactive and assertive self-starter with a strong track record in leading HSSE efforts in the field. They must be experienced in conducting site inspections, implementing HSSE measures and ensuring timely closure of actions. This role involves regular communication with client and subcontractor representatives and internally with the site construction team and project leadership, reporting directly to the Project HSSE Manager or, in their absence, the Project Manager.
