About the role
National Parks and Wildlife Service manages over 7 million hectares of diverse ecosystems and plays a vital role in conserving the state's biodiversity. This role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a team undertaking ecological monitoring and supporting evidence-based park management.
The Senior Project Officer - Data and Communications leads the integration of data services within NPWS's ecological health monitoring and reporting program. This role ensures ecological data is accessible, secure, and effectively managed to support adaptive park management and conservation decision-making. It involves overseeing data systems and standards, developing data products, and providing expert technical advice and training to staff. - Proven ability to deliver technical advice and training in field data collection, GIS software (particularly ArcGIS), and database management to support consistent data practices across teams.
- Experience developing and managing data frameworks, including schema design, data modelling, and scripting to ensure data integrity and consistency.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to foster collaboration and promote data sharing across teams.
- A forward-thinking approach to identifying emerging trends and technologies that enhance data capabilities and service delivery.
Essential requirements
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications in spatial science, ecology or equivalent experience.
- Current Australian driver license.
