About the Role
The Research Analyst role requires asset allocation experience, a strong understanding of the major asset classes and funds management universe, and impressive analytical, written and personal presentation skills. In addition to assisting in the management of several multi-asset portfolios, the portfolios must be marketed and promoted to financial advisers, with some external interaction and presentations. Strong working relationships must be established and maintained with key stakeholders including financial advisers, fund managers and colleagues. A market segment of particular focus is the not-for-profit philanthropy sector where Ords is building a significant presence.
Minimum requirements include 5-10 years of industry experience and a strong degree in economics and/or finance/accounting disciplines. Further study such as CFA, CIMA and/or Masters of Applied Finance would be helpful.
Primary responsibilities will include:
- Producing high-quality investment thematic and fund manager research
- Marketing multi-asset funds and philanthropic services to financial advisers and their clients
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with leading fund managers
- Building and maintaining financial models and proprietary databases
- Analysing news and data relevant to the multi-asset funds and not-for-profit sectors
- Effectively responding to queries from advisers and clients
- Remaining compliant with Ord Minnett policies, ASX and regulatory regimes
Technical competencies, experience and values should include:
- High-quality analysis, including investment themes, fund manager and portfolio analysis, with strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Commitment to industry-leading performance
- Relationship development and management, with a strong network of adviser and fund manager relationships
- Entrepreneurial creativity to identify, pursue and develop new investment themes and opportunities
- Experience as a fund manager/portfolio manager and/or analyst
- Commitment to teamwork
