Our client is responsible for the adjudication of camera detected offence images and issuing and processing of infringement notices. This Government Department collects and enforces unpaid fines and court orders. They are also responsible for collecting state taxes (including duties, payroll tax and land tax) and mining and petroleum royalties and administering certain grants.
the Department takes a client centric approach to help their clients meet their obligations and receive their correct entitlements.
Background
Seeking an experienced IT Project Manager to lead three strategic initiatives:
- Data Maturity Uplift Project – improving organisational data governance, quality, and analytics maturity.
- Business Process Documentation & Gap Analysis Project – documenting core business processes, identifying gaps, and defining requirements for improvement.
- Project coordination for the InfoSec program of works
This role will oversee planning, execution, stakeholder engagement, and delivery across all 3 streams, ensuring outcomes align with organisational strategy and Enterprise Architecture governance frameworks.
Key Responsibilities Of The Role
Project Management & Delivery
- Develop detailed project management plans, change management plans, communications plans, quality plans, detailed project schedules, and resource schedules, inclusive of budget for above mentioned initiatives.
- Ensure delivery within agreed scope, timeframes, and quality standards.
- Establish governance and reporting mechanisms, including steering committees and executive updates.
- Schedule, review, monitor and evaluate project progress and report on such to key stakeholders including project governance bodies, and the program manager.
- Ensure project risks and issues are promptly identified and effectively managed and that project stakeholders are informed and engaged in project development and implementation activities.
Stakeholder & Team Leadership
- Provide leadership and management of projects, within established project management frameworks, methodologies, and policies, to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Engage with executives, business SMEs, and technical teams to ensure alignment and buy-in.
- Facilitate workshops for data governance and process documentation activities.
- Manage vendors, consultants, and internal delivery resources.
- Facilitate team and individual development and build positive and participative culture aligned to our values and expectations.
- Provide effective leadership to the project team comprised of Data Engineers, Data Analysts, Reports developers, Enterprise Architects, Business users and take appropriate action where team performance deviates from agreed tolerances.
Data Maturity Uplift
- Coordinate maturity assessments, uplift activities, and improvement initiatives.
- Support adoption of data governance, metadata management, data quality, and reporting practices.
- Track and report on KPIs such as data quality metrics and maturity benchmarks.
- Ensure regulatory and policy compliance and strong data governance.
- Ensure data lakehouse strategically aligns with the business goals and organisational objectives.
Business Process Documentation & Gap Analysis
- Lead process-mapping workshops with business units.
- Document As-Is processes in standard notation (e.g., BPMN). o Identify gaps, risks, and inefficiencies; define To-Be processes and requirements.
- Deliver consolidated process maps, gap analysis, and requirements registers.
Change & Communication
- Develop communication plans and support change management activities.
- Ensure knowledge transfer to business and IT stakeholders.
Required to train up and handover to existing staff and document to an acceptable standard
Required Skills & Experience
- 5–10 years' experience managing IT/business transformation projects.
- Strong project management expertise (PRINCE2, PMBOK, or Agile/Hybrid delivery).
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, facilitation, and communication skills.
- Proven experience in delivering projects involving data governance, data quality, or analytics initiatives.
- Experience in business process documentation, analysis, and requirements gathering.
- Strong risk, issue, and dependency management.
Desirable Skills & Qualifications
- Relevant certifications: PMP, PRINCE2 Practitioner, Agile (Scrum Master), or TOGAF.
- Knowledge of data maturity models (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK, DCAM, CMMI).
- Experience in the public sector or highly regulated industries.
- Exposure to enterprise architecture, data platforms, or business transformation programs.
- BPM certification (e.g., ABPMP, OCEB) highly regarded. Attributes
