Primary objective

Lead, project manage and provide strategic advice and technical expertise to facilitate whole of government trade and

investment collaboration, systems and delivery; with the overall aim of supporting the NT Government's priority of rebuilding

the Territory's economy.

Context statement

The Trade and Investment Opportunities Division works in partnership with teams across the department, government, and

industry to develop, implement, and advocate for strategic economic, industry growth, and reform strategies. This work

drives an ambitious investment and trade development program, promoting and bolstered by bold advocacy for the Territory.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Lead, manage and deliver economic and quantitative analysis projects to help contribute to the government's strategic

priority of rebuilding the economy, primarily through increasing private investment and trade, with a focus on Asia.

2. Develop and maintain effective working relationships and collaborative partnerships with a diverse range of public and

private sector stakeholders, including to champion a whole of government approach to trade and investment delivery.

3. Lead the development and distribution of investor-centric analysis and insights, reports and briefs on economic issues

affecting the Northern Territory to inform advice and decision-making.

4. Research and conduct comprehensive data analysis and risk assessment to facilitate evidence-based decisions to grow

trade and investments across the Northern Territory.

5. Represent the Department across a range of inter-agency, whole of government and intergovernmental working groups.

6. Provide high-level advice and insights to senior executive management and other stakeholders, including preparing

Ministerial briefs and other corporate documentation.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Substantial applied knowledge of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems, database management and data

visualisation tools.

2. Demonstrated understanding of contemporary research methods and data analysis techniques.

3. Applied knowledge of stakeholder and case management, negotiation, communication, and facilitation principles across

a broad range of settings to achieve differentiated outcomes.

4. Significant experience undertaking research and analysis to support evidence-based decision making, preferably within

an investment / trade / economic development context.

5. High-level oral and written communication skills, and ability to convey complex material to a broad, non-technical

audience.

6. Proven success building commitment and wide support to achieve high level goals.

Desirable

1. Tertiary qualifications in business management, economics, statistical analysis, or a related discipline.

2. Working knowledge of and experience with economic analysis and data visualisation tools (e.g. R, Stata, EViews, Power
