The Opportunity
Reporting to the Head of Corporate Treasury Services within the Client Services division, this dynamic role offers a unique opportunity to shape and strengthen WATC's client relationships. You will be responsible for managing a portfolio of key clients while driving strategic initiatives to grow WATC's client base and enhance their suite of financial products and services.
As the primary liaison between WATC and its clients, you will play a critical role in delivering tailored financial solutions that align with each client's business objectives. The ability to adapt communications to suit the audience is critical to the role, as it entails conveying complex financial concepts to stakeholders with varying levels of financial expertise.
You will also lead the development and implementation of strategies to manage complex financial risks—including interest rate, credit, foreign exchange, and commodity risks—supporting clients in making sound, forward-thinking financial decisions in relation to a key projects, such as infrastructure / transport / energy / sustainability.
Key deliverables of this role include (but are not limited to):
- Overseeing the delivery of WATC's financial product and service offering including transactional and financial risk management advisory services.
- Identifying and implementing strategic initiatives that support improved financial outcomes for clients and the WA public sector more broadly, either directly through WATC's product and service offering or indirectly through sharing our knowledge, expertise and strategic relationships.
- Providing leadership within the Corporate Treasury Services business unit and building skills and capabilities across the team by coaching and mentoring.
- Managing a small team to provide high quality service to a portfolio of clients.
About You
This role is at the forefront of providing financial solutions for the benefit of the Western Australian public sector and would suit an individual with significant experience working in a client relationship management role within the finance / banking sector. Demonstrated experience and understanding of financial products, particularly debt and investment products, is preferred. Experience with the management of foreign exchange and commodities risk would also be advantageous.
The ability to adapt communications to suit the audience is critical to the role, as it entails conveying complex financial concepts to stakeholders with varying levels of financial expertise. Further, the[LB1] [RS2] ability to influence, motivate, and persuade others through effective communication, strategic planning, and management skills are very important.
Additional key criteria include:
- Well-developed knowledge of financial risk management principles and concepts;
- Well-developed analytical skills, specifically in relation to financial analysis;
- Well-developed client relationship management skills with a focus on customer service delivery;
- Well-developed leadership, coaching/mentoring skills;
- Sound knowledge of the financial markets environment and financial instruments;
- Sound knowledge of the public sector framework and operating environment.
- Adaptability and ability to adjust to new conditions or priorities and effectively handle change or uncertainty; and
- Willingness to participate in a flexible work environment that facilitates productive working relationships.
