We are Western Australia Return Recycle Renew, (WARRRL). We are the team that has been leading the recycling revolution that is Containers for Change. We have developed and supported a strong, diverse network of 300 refund points, providing employment opportunities through commercial, social enterprise and not for profit organisations. The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Manager, Data Systems to lead WARRRL's data governance, reporting frameworks, and insights. This role ensures our data is protected, organised, and leveraged to support operational delivery, Scheme performance monitoring, and informed decision-making across the organisation.
Reporting to the Head of Business Services, in this newly created position, you will play a key role in strengthening organisational data capability, producing high-quality insights, and embedding good data management practices across the organisation.
Some key responsibilities include: -
- Lead the development and implementation of data governance frameworks, policies and standards.
- Oversee data lifecycle management to ensure data is appropriately classified, stored, protected, retained, and used.
- Drive the development of high-quality business reporting, dashboards and insights to support operational and strategic decision-making.
- Provide leadership and coaching to a small team to build data literacy and enhance reporting capability.
- Partner with operational teams to understand business needs and ensure reporting is accurate, timely and fit-for-purpose.
- Work closely with IT Support and external partners to ensure best-practice data management, system configuration and documentation.
- Monitor policy compliance and provide regular reporting on data activities and performance metrics.
This is a full-time opportunity, based in Subiaco.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will be an experienced IT leader who thrives in an environment where you can work closely with people, contribute to organisational improvement, and ensure technology truly enables business outcomes. You will bring a strong service mindset, excellent communication skills, and the ability to balance strategic priorities with practical operational management.
To be successful in this role, you will have proven experience as a data specialist, including managing data platforms and systems, such as Snowflake, ensuring data quality, governance and integrity.
Key to your success will be your demonstrated experience in the following:-
- Strong understanding of the full data lifecycle, classification, protection, retention, privacy, disposal and demonstrated ability to implement related policies and processes.
- Advanced ability to design, build and deliver reporting and dashboards in Power BI, including data modelling and transformation.
- Ability to translate data into meaningful insights and recommendations, proactively identifying opportunities to improve business performance and data capability.
- Demonstrated stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to listen to business needs, understand challenges, and develop appropriate data or reporting solutions.
- Experience mentoring and developing team members, and contributing to a collaborative, high-performance data and reporting function.
- Tertiary qualifications in data science or a related discipline will be highly regarded.
