We are looking for a highly skilled and versatile Senior Systems & Network Engineer to join our team. This is a Level 3 senior role within our MSP, ideal for someone with 5 to 10+ years of industry experience who can deliver projects end-to-end and handle complex escalations.
The role requires deep expertise across server infrastructure, networking, cloud, and security, combined with strong consulting and client-facing skills. You will architect and deliver projects, manage BAU escalations, support pre-sales scoping, and ensure solutions are aligned with client needs and industry best practice.
Key Responsibilities- Architect, deliver, and support server infrastructure projects including Windows Server environments, domain services, clustered solutions, and private cloud.
- Manage and support Hyper-V environments, storage platforms, and virtualised workloads.
- Provide design, configuration, and escalation support across server hardware (compute, storage, networking integration).
- Lead infrastructure refresh, migration, and consolidation projects.
- Deliver and maintain Veeam backup and disaster recovery solutions.
- Act as a senior escalation point for BAU incidents across server, networking, and security stacks.
- Provide consulting and pre-sales support, including solution design and project scoping.
- Design, configure, and tune network and security appliances (firewalls, IDS/IPS, load balancers, proxies).
- Deploy and manage WAN, LAN, WLAN, VxLAN, SD-WAN, and network management tools.
- Architect and configure solutions with Cisco, Meraki, WatchGuard, Sophos, and Fortinet technologies.
- Implement VPNs, routing, and switching protocols across complex environments.
- Deliver solutions across Microsoft 365 modern work (SharePoint, Teams, Azure AD, Conditional Access, Defender, Microsoft security).
- Apply cybersecurity best practices with an understanding of the Essential Eight.
- Support automation and efficiency improvements through scripting (PowerShell, Python, or similar).
- Manage stakeholder communication, SLAs, and reporting in a timely and professional manner.
- Translate technical issues into clear, business-friendly language for end-users.
- Deliver high-quality outcomes with strong presentation and documentation standards.
- 5–10+ years of IT industry experience, including senior-level work in an MSP environment.
Extensive knowledge and experience in:
Windows Server environments (AD, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, clustering).
- Hyper-V virtualisation, storage, and high availability.
- Server hardware (compute, storage, networking integration).
- Backup and DR solutions (Veeam strongly preferred).
- Network security, VPNs, firewalls, IDS/IPS, load balancers, and proxies.
- WAN, LAN, WLAN, VxLAN, SD-WAN, and network management tools.
- Routing and switching protocols (BGP, OSPF, VLANs, spanning-tree).
- Cloud technologies (Microsoft 365, Azure, private cloud hosting).
- Hands-on experience with Cisco, Cisco Meraki, WatchGuard, Sophos, and Fortinet technologies.
- Proven project management and delivery experience.
- Strong scripting and automation skills (PowerShell preferred).
- Skilled in time and priority management, able to thrive in a fast-paced MSP environment.
- Experience managing stakeholders and SLAs with professional, timely communication.
- Ability to translate technical concepts into clear business language.
- High standards of delivery, presentation, and documentation.
- CCNA or CCNP strongly preferred.
- Microsoft certifications (Windows Server, Hyper-V, Microsoft 365) desirable.
- Vendor certifications (Sophos, Meraki, WatchGuard, Fortinet, Veeam) highly regarded.
- ITIL experience in service management beneficial.
- Work in a tight-knit, agile team of 20 serving over 130 diverse SMB clients.
- Exposure to a wide range of server, networking, cloud, and security technologies.
