About the Company

Subsea Energy Australia (SEA) is the peak industry association representing Australia's subsea, marine, and emerging offshore energy sectors. We connect industry, champion innovation, and create high-value opportunities for our members.

We are seeking a dynamic and relationship-driven General Manager to lead SEA's operations, deliver high-impact events, and drive member engagement across a thriving and evolving industry.

About the Role

Reporting to the Board of Directors and working closely with the Executive Committee, the General Manager will lead the day-to-day operations of SEA and ensure our strategic priorities come to life. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who loves stakeholder engagement, event delivery, industry collaboration, and building a strong member community, while working with a high degree of autonomy and flexibility.

Key Responsibilities

Member Engagement & Industry Relationships

  • Build strong relationships with members, partners, and industry stakeholders.
  • Develop and deliver initiatives that strengthen member growth, value, visibility, and participation.
  • Represent SEA at industry events, working groups, stakeholder forums, and government engagement.

Event Leadership

  • Lead SEA's flagship events including the Supplier Showcase, Sundowners, and WISE Networking.
  • Manage end-to-end logistics, budgets, sponsorships, and stakeholder involvement.

Strategy & Governance

  • Implement Board-approved strategic initiatives and track progress.
  • Support working groups, community activities, and special projects.

Operations & Finance

  • Oversee day-to-day administration, financial management, and reporting.
  • Ensure governance, compliance, and organisational processes are well maintained.
  • Manage SEA's digital tools including Xero, member databases, and website content updates.

Communications & Promotion

  • Lead member communications including newsletters, announcements, social media, and website.
  • Promote SEA's programs and events across industry channels.

What You'll Bring

  • Proven experience in event management, stakeholder engagement, or industry association management.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management abilities.
  • Financial management and budgeting capability.
  • Digital capability, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, the ability to use or quickly learn Xero, basic website management skills, and confidence in adopting new software tools.
  • Knowledge of governance, volunteer engagement, or committee-based organisations (highly regarded).
  • A passion for energy, marine, subsea, or adjacent industry sectors is a bonus.
