Middlemount Coal Pty Ltd is an incorporated joint venture between Yancoal Australia and Peabody PCI Australia.  The mine produces approximately 4 million tonnes of medium-volatile pulverized coal injection (PCI) coal and semi-hard coking coal for the export market.

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Contracts and Projects Superintendent to join the Middlemount Coal team.

Reporting to the [Maintenance & Projects Manager, this key leadership role is responsible for managing all site contracts and capital/maintenance projects to ensure safe, timely, and cost-effective delivery in line with operational and business objectives.

You will lead the end-to-end management of projects and contractor performance — from scoping and tendering through to execution, completion, and closeout — while ensuring compliance with all company, legal, and safety requirements.

Key Requirements:

· Lead and coordinate maintenance and capital projects across the mine site.

· Develop project scopes, budgets, and schedules, ensuring alignment with operational priorities.

· Manage contractor performance, compliance, and governance in accordance with contract terms.

· Oversee tendering, procurement, and negotiation processes in partnership with Supply and Commercial teams.

· Drive safety, quality, and continuous improvement across all project and contractor activities.

· Report on project progress, costs, and risks to key stakeholders and senior management.

· Foster strong relationships with internal departments and external contractors to support successful project delivery.

Middlemount Coal Mine is located 15 minutes west of the township of Middlemount.  Employees are bused in and out from camp to site. Middlemount offer employees camp accommodation in Middlemount or subsidised housing options.
