Middlemount Coal Pty Ltd is an incorporated joint venture between Yancoal Australia and Peabody PCI Australia.  The mine produces approximately 4 million tonnes of medium-volatile pulverized coal injection (PCI) coal and semi-hard coking coal for the export market.

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Maintenance Superintendent to lead the maintenance team at our open cut mining operation. Reporting to the Maintenance & Projects Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable maintenance of the field and mobile equipment to meet production targets and operational requirements.

This leadership role plays a key part in maintaining a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement across all maintenance disciplines.

Key Requirements:

  • Provide leadership and direction to the contract partners maintaining owned and hired equipment.
  • Understand relevant contracts in place to engage with contract partners and execute works in line with these.
  • Ensure safe execution of all maintenance activities in accordance with site procedures and legislative requirements.
  • Develop the site maintenance budget for owned equipment, update forecasts through the year, and ensure appropriate accruals are submitted each month.
  • Review monthly claims from maintenance contractors for accuracy and compliance with contracts
  • Oversight of planning and scheduling of maintenance and repair activities to minimise downtime and impact to production
  • Drive fleet reliability and availability through effective preventative maintenance and defect management processes.
  • Collaborate with production and planning to optimise equipment performance and minimise downtime.
  • Monitor and report on KPIs related to safety, maintenance downtime, and asset performance
