Feedlot Manager
- Reputable, privately owned agribusiness that values trust and accountability.
- Lead day-to-day operations with autonomy while shaping expansion
- Work alongside an owner who supports your development and career growth.
Your Next Employer
This privately-owned feedlot, located 15km south of Moree, is set to more than double its licensed capacity from 2,000 to 5,000 SCU in the short to medium term. Approvals are already in motion, with a clear plan to scale in stages while keeping performance front and centre.
Current programs include short and mid-fed cattle for Woolworths and export markets, along with a 150-day Angus line that now makes up around 30–40% of intake. This isn't a cookie-cutter yard - decisions are data-driven, systems are embedded, and there's genuine scope to keep improving, make your mark, and lead with autonomy.
With strong equity backing and a clear growth path, the goal is straightforward: lift cattle performance and build out a scalable, profitable platform.
This leadership role exists because the business is growing, and you'll play a central part in shaping what comes next.
The Role
As Feedlot Manager, you'll take the reins of daily operations, balancing livestock performance, compliance, and team leadership with input into future development.
This role is split roughly 60% operational and 40% admin/planning. You'll lead a team of two, manage compliance records, ensure cattle health, feeding, and infrastructure are consistently on point. Clear, open communication with the owner is key - with daily updates and shared decision-making where needed.
You'll be working alongside an owner who values honesty and trust above all else.
You'll have the freedom to run the yard without micromanagement, but with support available when needed, and your growth encouraged as the business grows.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive Cattle Health & Performance
- pen riding, treatments, and reducing pulls while improving ADG, FCR, and minimising mortality. - Lead Feeding & Bunk Management
- manage bunk reads, step-ups, ration adjustments, and minimise waste. - Maintain Compliance & Records
- keep systems accurate, consistent, and audit-ready across all programs - eLynx suite. - Mentor & Lead the Team
- set rosters, build accountability, and develop a reliable, engaged crew. - Manage Assets & Site
- oversee yard maintenance and ensure WHS and biosecurity standards are met. - Support Expansion Projects
- contribute to approvals, design, and coordination with contractors. - Communicate with Clarity
- provide regular updates to the owner, escalate issues early, and liaise with vets, nutritionists, and software providers.
What You Bring
- Feedlot background preferred
- but strong livestock operators / Station Managers / Supervisor with exposure to feedlots, systems and record-keeping are encouraged to apply. - Ownership mindset
- you take accountability for animal health, compliance, and team culture. - Attention to detail
- from pen riding and bunk reads through to compliance and record accuracy. - Clear communicator
- open, honest, and reliable in how you work with the team and the owner. - Valuable extras
- ration knowledge, compliance systems, or contractor oversight. - Mechanical aptitude
- handy but not essential, with support from the team and contractors. - Couple options
- the role can suit a couple, especially where one partner can add strength in compliance/admin.
What You'll Gain
- Competitive Package
: $100k – $120k (neg) + Super + Ute + house + incentives (~$170k + TRP) - Housing
: 4-bed/2-bath home in Moree, with potential move to on-farm homestead in future. - Autonomy
: Lead operations day-to-day while the owner focuses on trading and growth. - Career
Exposure
: Input into a 5,000 SCU expansion, including design and contractor management. - Lifestyle
: Balanced roster, Monday to Friday, with one weekend per month.
