Head Stockperson

Coonamble, NSW | Full-time | Competitive salary + on-site accommodation

We're looking for a skilled and motivated Head Stockperson to take charge of livestock operations at our well-established feedlot in Coonamble, NSW.

This hands-on leadership role is responsible for guiding the day-to-day running of the livestock team — from cattle handling and pen riding to health programs and welfare management.

You'll work closely with the management team to drive animal performance, uphold welfare and safety standards, and support an efficient, productive feedlot environment.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily livestock activities — induction, drafting, pen riding, processing, and dispatch
• Monitor cattle health, treatments, and recovery pens
• Lead and mentor the livestock crew, coordinating rosters and training
• Ensure biosecurity, animal welfare, and WHS standards are always maintained
• Keep accurate livestock records and contribute to operational planning
• Collaborate with Feedmill, maintenance, and admin teams to achieve site goals

About You

• Proven background in feedlot or large-scale cattle operations
• Strong leadership and team-building abilities
• Competent livestock handler and horse rider (with own horses)
• Good knowledge of animal health treatments, NLIS/eID systems, and low-stress handling practices
• Organised, proactive, and committed to excellence in animal care and safety
