The City of Launceston, an award winning Employer of Choice, is currently seeking to fill the following position:
Position Title: Senior Visitation Officer
Position Number: POS1742
This permanent, full-time position responsible for driving initiatives that enhance Launceston's visitation through destination marketing, industry collaboration and capacity building. This role will position Launceston as a distinctive destination by supporting local operators, enriching visitor experiences and through fostering strategic partnerships.
A focus of this role is leading destination projects, identifying visitation growth opportunities and utilising data-driven insights to guide strategic decision-making. The role champions Launceston's visitor economy by staying abreast of industry trends, expanding sports tourism, enhancing our gastronomy profile, fostering workforce development, and advocating for improved infrastructure, particularly around iconic assets like the Cataract Gorge.
We are looking for someone who demonstrates, through behaviour, an alignment and an understanding of Our Values and has the following qualifications, skills and experience:
• Destination development: Strong understanding of destination development, with the ability to identify growth opportunities and leverage market insights to enhance the appeal of Launceston as a tourism destination;
• Visitor experience improvement: Experience in improving visitor experiences through the development of tourism products, services and infrastructure, with a particular focus on iconic assets such as the Cataract Gorge;
• Data-driven decision making: Ability to analyse and interpret data, utilising insights to inform strategic decisions and measure the success of tourism initiatives, ensuring they are impactful and relevant to evolving visitor trends;
• Communication and advocacy: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to advocate for the visitor economy, engage with diverse audiences and effectively promote Launceston's tourism offerings; and
• Adaptability and innovation: Displays flexibility and creativity in adapting strategies to changing industry trends, ensuring Launceston remains competitive and resilient in a rapidly evolving tourism landscape.
