BackSpace is an innovative multi-disciplinary spine rehabilitation practice developed by medical specialists with 25 years of experience in spinal conditions and back pain.  Our expert multidisciplinary team include Physiotherapists, Exercise Physiologists, Massage Therapists, and Practice Nurses.  They are supported by a group of medical specialists including Spine Surgeons, Pain Physicians, Occupational and Rehabilitation Specialists, and Musculoskeletal Radiologists.

Who we want:

We are seeking a junior medical receptionist whose primary roles will be to manage patient appointments, ensure the timely running of clinics and to assist the directors with data analysis for strategic growth and patient satisfaction.  You will be a recent healthcare industry graduate who is considering a future in the healthcare sector.

Selection criteria:

  • tertiary qualifications in any of the health, medical research and biomedical sciences
  • career goal of working in the healthcare industry
  • basic understanding of research methods and reporting of statistics
  • minimum of one years' experience in medical reception desirable but not essential with new graduates welcome
  • a sound knowledge of Medicare and the Australian health insurance industry
  • advanced understanding of IT software, especially Microsoft Office Suite
  • multi-tasking and prioritising abilities
  • excellent time management skills
  • attention to detail and a superior command of the English language
  • the ability to work in a team-based environment
  • a professional and friendly phone manner
  • advanced digital and personal communication skills
  • a compassionate and caring nature
  • impeccable personal presentation

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • schedule, confirm and manage patient appointments for multiple allied health professionals
  • ensure the appointment calendar is always optimized
  • manage every clinic by facilitating patient and practitioner treatments
  • take and direct telephone calls
  • respond to online appointment requests
  • liaise with practice nurse in dealing with medical queries
  • work with the medical directors, management staff, research team and IT partners to analyze and report on data
  • liaise with practice allied health professionals
  • participate in research projects when required

Position Details:

  • start date is Monday 8th December 2025
  • located at the Brisbane Private Hospital
  • one month of formal training provided + ongoing support
  • permanent part-time position with a minimum 30 hrs per week (Mon to Fri)
  • must be able to work up to 38 hrs per week when needed
  • remuneration is in accordance with the Health Services Award and dependent on relevant tertiary qualifications and prior experience
