As Senior Engineering Manager - Chapter Lead in Workflow, you will be responsible for leading engineers that report to you, instilling a growth mindset and innovative ways of working. You will also be hands on to lead ongoing change and development for the workflow solutions and provide technology oversight to different business units.

As a Senior Engineering Manager - Chapter Lead, you will help to shape the future of our platforms while focusing on designing, developing, and deploying innovative technology solutions that will enable us to build tomorrow's bank today. You'll use your skills in leading engineers and implementing complex workflow solutions in a cloud-based environment. Also, you'll have a strong risk mindset in ensuring that appropriate cyber security controls are implemented and play a significant mentoring role in providing technical assistance to the engineers in the team.

- Have demonstrated experience in translating the project vision into actionable plans and iterative delivery.

Technical Skills
We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We do not expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these, or a willing to learn these skillsets (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team
- Hands-on engineering manager that can lead software engineers in building cloud scalable platforms.
- Expertise with API specification, design, registration and tooling (eg OpenAPI, AWS Gateway)
- CI/CD: expertise with usage and configuration of fully automated pipelines is useful. This includes GitHub Actions, Artifactory and GitRepo.
- DevOps: Familiarity with DevOps-managed environments. Specifically, around observability tools (Splunk, Grafana, Promethius, PagerDuty)
- Language orientation: Experience on C#, .NET Framework Core, essential. SOAP/REST APIs, Microservices and containerisation a plus. Node, Python and scripting knowledge useful
- Artificial Intelligence: Sound knowledge in AI technologies, particularly around tooling enhancements will be valued.
- Data engineering: Knowledge in building a data lake using real-time and near real-time services, along with data transformation, aggregation, and offering through API endpoints
- Test Automation: Unit/Integration/Acceptance/Performance testing experience in API.
- Security: Defence in depth, including identity management, encryption and public cloud security obligations
- Experience in distributed, low latency environments.
- Databases: Relational databases (e.g. Postgres / Oracle), as well as data warehousing and No-SQL databases (MongoDB).
- Familiarity in event-driven architectures (Kafka, MQ) and orchestration (Apache Camel, Temporal, Mulesoft)

- Prioritise work that supports engineers to be productive and autonomous.
- An evangelist for engineering principles, practices and standards
- Be responsible for the strategic technology direction for the team, including managing code
- Manage workforce planning and staff retention, cultivating a safe and trusted working environment
- You are able to manage relationships and communications with project stakeholders, including customers and delivery teams. Along with vendors and third-party suppliers
- Champion thought leadership for the process architecture and develop options for improving and updating current capability.
- Act as an escalation, advice, and decision-making point for Workflow Solutions.
- Review and contribute to reference architecture and platform initiative involving workflow.
- Monitor emerging technologies, industry developments, directions, and best practices.
- Provide specialised expertise and development using C#, Python, Java.
- Analysing systems to provide system support and recommendations for development.
- Expert troubleshooting of implementation, environment and deployment issues.
- Establish new ways of working and promote DevOps culture of CI/CD pipelines and Automation supported by world-class tools
- Have expertise in managing any workflow based technical environments (preferably Pega, Appian)
- Expertise to define and effectively communicate a long-term technical vision
- Excellent communication skills. Working experience with Agile methodologies.
