The Role

We are excited to offer an outstanding opportunity to join our rapidly growing organisation as a Remedial/Facade or Forensic Engineer on a full-time basis. Based in our Western Sydney, NSW office, you will also have the chance to work on diverse and impactful projects across Sydney, the Illawarra, the Central Coast, and regional NSW.

In this dynamic role, you will take the lead in a wide range of tasks encompassing remedial engineering, structural design, and consulting services. Your responsibilities will include conducting site inspections and assessments, capturing measurements, analysing structural challenges, and preparing declared design documentation for both remedial and new-build projects.

Key Responsibilities

Your day will be busy and varied, including:

Site Inspections & Assessments:

  • Conduct inspections in both metropolitan locations, and occasionally regional locations.
  • Investigate and analyse failures across residential, commercial, and industrial structures.

Technical Documentation & Reporting:

  • Prepare detailed written reports documenting the cause of distress or failure, the extent of loss, and recommended remediation measures including reports for litigation.
  • Draft documentation detailing rectification and remedial repair solutions for onsite construction issues and damaged structures.
  • Provide mark ups and work collaborate with our inhouse drafting team for the preparation of the regulated design drawings

Quality Assurance:

  • Contribute to our quality assurance goals by reviewing reports prepared by other forensic engineers to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality outcomes.

Project Coordination & Client Engagement:

  • Schedule field inspections and coordinate with specialist service providers to facilitate effective forensic investigations.
  • Prepare quotations and maintain direct communication with clients.
  • Oversee project management of remedial building projects to ensure high-quality outcomes and on-time delivery.

Innovative Solutions & Team Leadership:

  • Provide tailored recommendations and innovative solutions to complex structural, waterproofing, and facade challenges.
  • Develop and implement structural monitoring system plans, including the analysis and reporting of captured data.
  • Assist our design teams by providing technical expertise on complex projects where appropriate.
  • Lead internal team discussions and training sessions to foster professional development and continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to innovation activities such as process improvement and system automation.

Qualifications & Experience

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil / Structural).

Experience:

  • Proven experience in remedial or forensic engineering, with a strong background in structural analysis, calculations, and design for both remedial and new-build projects.
  • Demonstrated expertise in conducting structural assessments, identifying defects, and preparing detailed technical reports.
  • Hands-on experience with assessments of structural, façade, and waterproofing systems.
  • Experience in project and design management is essential.

Technical & Analytical Skills:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Building Code of Australia and relevant Australian Standards.
  • Proficiency in developing structural monitoring system strategies and producing regular monitoring reports.
  • Exceptional technical report-writing skills and strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Communication & Interpersonal Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Business development skills will be considered a valued advantage.

Other Requirements:

  • Possession of a current driver's licence and access to reliable transport.
  • Fluency in English and eligibility to work in Australia.
