How you will create an impact
The Express Claims team is made up of Examiners located across our major cities and reports into the Express Solutions Claims Manager, Pacific. The team's commitment is to deliver fast, fair and friendly claims service by driving timely claims resolutions. This role will manage a portfolio of Express SME Property, Liability and Casualty claims (reasonable volume in a proactive, efficient, cost-effective manner, while delivering a high-quality service to customers. Developing commercial relationships with internal/external stakeholders including brokers and customers.
Key accountabilities will include but not limited to:
- To resolve claims within your authority in a cost-effective manner by ensuring that claims are accurately assessed as to indemnity, liability, and quantum.
- To control claims related expenses by appointing external service providers only when necessary and properly managing such service providers when they are appointed.
- Take a proactive approach to claims management i.e., determining at earliest juncture indemnity, liability, and quantum with a view to actioning matter to finalisation.
- Maintain the departments primary service standards
- Manage allocated claims portfolio in accordance with all department issued and company guidelines and procedures
- Manage external service providers retained by AIG or the insured to ensure cost effective outcomes and compliance with agreed service commitments
- Communicate and manage issues on cover and quantum to clients and brokers quickly clearly and efficiently using all forms of communication
- To ensure large claims are reported in a timely fashion to senior management and claims management in accordance with Best Practice guidelines
- Develop a sound understanding of, and ability to operate AEGIS, One Claim, and any other claims related systems.
- Promptly acknowledge all claims and respond to all customer enquiries in a friendly and helpful manner
- Form a view about policy response to notifications as promptly as possible and communicate that view to the external customer in a clear and concise manner which enhances the company's relationship with that customer.
- Build and maintain solid relationships with colleagues, other AIG personnel, clients, brokers, sponsors, and other external parties
- Embrace a learning culture and environment and identify / communicate areas of improvement
What you'll need to succeed
- Previous experience with Commercial Insurance Claims (preferable)
- Strong communication skills with ability to adapt as the need requires
- Problem solving skills with strategic planning and execution
- Ability to drive outcomes in a proactive manner
- Situational adaptation in approach to achieve positive outcomes
- Able to work autonomously but within a team environment
- Appreciation of different stakeholder's interests both internally and externally with a willingness to assist as required
- Open minded, inclusive and reasonableness in approach in dealings with all claims related parties
