Seeking an efficient and organised individual who will play a key role in the team as a Scientific Assistant, Public Health Property Point.
This role is responsible for the preparation, processing, and registration of pathology and public health samples received from both internal and external clients. The role plays a key part in supporting timely specimen turnaround by adhering to standard operating procedures and maintaining high standards of accuracy and efficiency.
Key competencies (role specific criteria):
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:
- The ability to rapidly learn and apply knowledge and skills in the receipting, labelling, verification, processing, registration, and delivery of both patient-related and public health samples to internal laboratories.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accurate data entry within a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
- Work effectively in a collaborative team environment and communicate professionally across disciplines.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage time effectively in a process-driven environment with competing priorities.
- This is currently a day shift position between 05:30am and 15:30pm, Monday to Friday, with flexibility to work additional hours during peak periods.
- You may be required to work outside of standard hours on a rostered basis, to support other staff members within the work area to ensure urgent analyses are performed and maintain expertise to ensure continuity of service.
- Safely lift and transport eskies weighing up to 20kg as part of daily sample delivery duties.
