We are seeking a qualified and experienced Hydrogeologist to join our team on a permanent basis. This role is suited to someone who thrives in both laboratory and field environmental, has string analytical skills, and is passionate about understanding subsurface water movement, geochemical behavior and resource management. You will contribute to diverse consulting projects, assist in field investigations, and apply advanced techniques to solve real world hydrogeological challenges.
Job Description
As a Hydrogeologist, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks including but not limited to:
- Conduct field investigations and site surveys for groundwater and geological mapping projects, including preliminary surveys in collaboration with engineers, mineral scientists, and prospectors.
- Perform detailed analyses of rock, soil, water, and mineral samples using optical, electronic, chemical, and mechanical techniques.
- Investigate subsurface geology and aquifer properties through geophysical and hydrogeological surveys, including seismic wave propagation, gravitational and magnetic field measurements, and drill hole logging.
- Assess the impacts of natural processes (e.g., erosion, sedimentation, seismic activity) on surface and subsurface water systems.
- Study rock strata, sediment layers, and fossil content to understand geological history and its relevance to hydrogeological behaviour and commercial application.
- Prepare and review technical documentation, including laboratory reports, scientific papers, and consultancy briefs for clients.
- Supervise and mentor junior staff on sampling protocols, laboratory methods, and data reporting standards.
- Provide expert input into environmental impact assessments and resource development feasibility studies.
- Use modelling tools to forecast aquifer behaviour, groundwater flow, and contaminant transport for client reporting and project development.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and environmental legislation in all aspects of field and laboratory work.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher qualification in a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant consulting or mining industry experience
- Proficiency in the use of hydrogeological and geophysical instruments, GIS, and modelling software.
- Excellent communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to write technical reports and present findings to clients and stakeholders.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team under the supervision of senior geoscientists.
