Subiaco, Australia St John of God Health Care Full time $115,700 - $128,550 per year

Your Role St John of God Subiaco Hospital

Be Part of a Landmark Transformation in Healthcare St John of God Subiaco Hospital, Western Australia's oldest private hospital, is undergoing its most ambitious transformation to date — a multi-stage redevelopment that will deliver a world-class hospital campus. This landmark project is redefining private healthcare through a strong focus on innovation, sustainability, clinical excellence, and patient-centred care.

As part of this exciting journey, we are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Project Manager to support the internal redevelopment team. This role will work closely with caregivers, consultants, contractors, and key stakeholders to contribute to all aspects of the redevelopment — including design coordination, authority approvals, construction delivery, reporting, and commissioning.

With construction of the Stage 3 New Clinical Building scheduled from 2026 to 2028, this is a rare opportunity to be part of one of Australia's largest private hospital redevelopments. The Assistant Project Manager will play a key role in supporting the planning, management, and delivery of project outcomes, ensuring alignment with agreed timeframes, quality standards, and budget parameters — all within the dynamic environment of a live hospital campus.

Please learn more about the journey so far on the Subiaco Hospital Redevelopment website.

The Position

  • In conjunction with key internal and external stakeholders, define and document project deliverables.

  • Develop detailed plans for each deliverable as required, including milestones, timeframes and budgets as necessary.

  • Manage implementation with consultant teams and caregivers under the guidance of the Director Redevelopment. Support the successful execution of complex, high value and/or high-risk construction projects for the Subiaco Redevelopment.

  • Preparation of financials and reporting, including the tracking of estimates, actuals and forecasts.

  • Effectively resource, schedule, and coordinate project activities.

  • Ensure that each project's documented quality standards are met.

  • Effectively manage project scope by ensuring that changes are documented, approved and registered.

  • Manage Project Risk and Issues including identifying, registering, and driving treatment activities that mitigate project risks and resolve issues within agreed accountabilities.

  • Perform secretariat duties for governance bodies as required.

You will have demonstrated experience in a similar role supporting the delivery of complex construction projects across all phases of the development lifecycle. Your ability to thrive in a team-oriented, collaborative environment will be key to your success, along with well-developed interpersonal and communication skills that enable you to clearly articulate the business context of projects. You will also possess the ability to influence and build strong working relationships across all levels of the organisation, contributing to a positive and productive project culture.

In addition, you will bring a sound understanding of project management methodologies, supported by tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as construction management, architecture, or engineering. Your excellent problem-solving skills, combined with the ability to work autonomously, will allow you to manage competing priorities effectively. Strong time management and organisational capabilities, along with a proven ability to meet deadlines, will be essential in supporting the successful delivery of this major redevelopment project.

Above all, people will be at the core of everything you do committing to and supporting our Mission and Values.

All applicants are asked to submit a covering letter (of no more than two (2) pages) demonstrating how you meet the above position requirements.

We can offer you

  • A position based at St John of God Subiaco Hospital.

  • Fixed term, full time opportunity (3-year contract) working 76 hours per fortnight.

  • Salary: $115,700 to $128,550 total remuneration package, plus salary packaging.
