The Role

As an Assistant Director in the Schools USI Strategic Policy Team, you will have the opportunity to support implementation of a national unique student identifier (USI) for the schools sector. Once in use, the schools USI will be a key foundation to unlocking powerful insights on students' learning journeys across the country in a way that is not currently possible. The initiative will support teaching, learning and student wellbeing, provide for more efficient administration and facilitate research to inform policy development.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities of the Assistant Director, Schools USI Strategic Policy Team will include:

  • Applying strategic thinking and analytical skills to develop insightful policy advice that supports the implementation of the schools Unique Student Identifier (USI) initiative.
  • Conducting research and analysis to inform policy positions, ensuring alignment with broader education and government objectives.
  • Collaborating effectively with a wide range of internal stakeholders to coordinate policy development and implementation activities.
  • Engaging with external stakeholders, including state and territory education authorities, legal counsel, and other Australian Government departments, to support policy advice, privacy impact assessment, communications and regulations development associated with implementation of the schools USI.
  • Lead the development of diverse and high-quality written policy communication products.
  • Fostering an inclusive and positive team culture, providing leadership, and supporting team members to enhance their capability, professional development and contribute to a high performing team.

Eligibility
