About the role:
Clinical Practice is responsible for the management of the School Psychology Service in all ACT public schools and contributes to the strategic direction of the Engagement and Wellbeing Support Services branch.
School psychologists work across behavioural, social, emotional and learning domains to support a student's wellbeing and learning. They are based in schools and are supported by an Assessment and Early Intervention team.
School psychologists provide a psychological service to enhance student learning, engagement and wellbeing.
Your major activities include but are not limited to:
- Conducting psychological and educational assessments, writing comprehensive reports and providing recommendations.
- Provision of psychological intervention for children and young people.
- Conducting mental health risk assessments.
- Assisting in managing critical incidents.
- Consulting and collaborating with key stakeholders, including teachers, parents, carers, school administrators and external agencies to support and enhance student learning and wellbeing.
- Consultation, development, and evaluation of behaviour, social emotional and individual learning plans.
- When appropriate, support student learning and wellbeing by making referrals to directorate programs and external agencies.
- Assisting in the selection, design, implementation and evaluation of prevention programs.
- Providing information and psychological education to students, school staff, parents, carers and external stakeholders; and
- Supporting the development of policy and processes.

- Qualifications and experience: A recognised tertiary qualification and demonstrated experience working with school aged young people.
- Passion: A genuine desire to see students thrive and succeed in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Adaptability and flexibility: An ability to build strong relationships with students and school communities, capacity to adapt strategies and interventions to meet complex needs and work effectively with multi-disciplinary teams to support student success.
