A peer support worker is required for immediate start to work with a video game savvy, autistic 20 year old tertiary engineering student. Interested in STEM subjects

This role will include the following tasks/duties:

  • providing social engagement opportunities through engaging in video games and day excursions
  • providing life skill development opportunities through supporting the client in everyday situations, i.e. shopping, travelling, internet/social media etiquette
  • providing assistance in accessing online tertiary education, including communication, supporting independent study skills and organisational skills

Essential criteria include:

  • strong knowledge in STEM subjects and video games as the main area of interest
  • within the 20-30 age bracket to provide a peer experience
  • strong verbal communication skills
  • Driver's License, roadworthy vehicle and comprehensive insurance

Desirable criteria include:

  • understanding or prior experience working with autistic young adults
  • flexibility to attend on a varying schedule, including some evenings and Saturdays.
