We are looking for the right candidate to take in the role of Senior HSEQ Systems Advisor. This is a full-time role, based in our Port Macquarie Shipyard on the beautiful Hastings River in NSW.
Position Overview
The Senior HSEQ Systems Advisor role is to provide expert guidance across health, safety, environmental, and quality (HSEQ) domains, ensuring that organisational systems meet regulatory and ISO standards while supporting continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- HSEQ communication, consultation and coaching to employees.
- Driving a culture of safe work, environment sustainability and quality workmanship.
- Incident reporting and leading investigations.
- Perform gap analyses and audits on Birdon's processes and Integrated Management System (IMS) to pinpoint areas of compliance nonconformance and opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Training and coaching for employees on preparing for audits, quality principles and understanding Birdon's processes to foster knowledge and skill development.
- Coordinate and monitor initiatives to update and improve the IMS to a process-oriented approach, ensuring alignment with current industry practices and compliance requirements.
- Facilitation of internal and external audits.
- Engage with subject matter experts to assist in the development of ISO-aligned plans, procedures, policies, and supporting documents.
HSEQ input into the bids and tenders function.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Diploma level WHS qualification (or above).
- String commitment to HSE principles.
- Certified Internal Auditor or equivalent qualifications in quality management systems.
- At least 3 years' experience in process and IMS audits.
- Good working knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 standards, with experience in applying them within an operational context.
- Exceptional communication and report writing skills to convey complex information clearly and concisely to stakeholders at all levels.
Experience in developing, implementing and maintaining Integrated Management Systems (IMS).
